How does a man and van service work?

You give both postcodes, the date and the items. We quote a vehicle and crew, you book and pay online, a subcontracted owner-driver is allocated, and that one driver collects, transports and delivers your items with status updates and photographs at both ends. There are no depot or hub transfers.

Does the driver help with loading and carrying?

Yes. The driver loads, secures, transports and unloads. Where the weight, stairs or access need a second pair of hands, we quote a two-person crew — £30 or 25% extra, whichever is greater — rather than expecting you to help.

Taylors operates a nationwide network of self-employed subcontracted owner-drivers, vetted before they are approved onto the network and required to hold driver goods-in-transit cover normally up to £5,000. Your job is managed by us and tracked through our own system throughout.

How are items protected in the van?

Blankets on painted, polished and glass surfaces, straps to the van's load points, heavy items low and forward, and nothing stacked on anything fragile. Because the van carries only your job, nothing else is pressing against your items.

How do I know where my items are?

You get a status updates link once the job is under way, so you can see the van's progress and ETA rather than waiting for a phone call. The driver photographs the goods at collection and at delivery.

What is expected of me on the day?

Have everything packed and accessible, keep the route to the door clear, be reachable by phone, and make sure someone over 18 can hand over and receive the items. Tell us in advance about permits, gate codes, lifts and parking restrictions.

What if nobody is there when the driver arrives?

The driver will call you and wait where it is legal to do so. If the collection or delivery cannot be completed, it becomes a return or re-delivery and is chargeable, which is why a working phone number on the day matters.
